Day 93, 26th of September 2017 (7th of August year of the roster according to the Chinese Traditional Calendar, which is lunisolar based. Using the Anno Huángdì, referring to the beginning of the reign of the Yellow Emperor, it is year 4715AH), 34°C, high humidity (tropical climate) and no wind. If you remember, my original plan (see post) was to cross from Kyrgyzstan to China overland, following the Silk Road all the way to Beijing, but as I didn’t manage to get the Chinese Visa in Bishkek (“we just give visas to Kyrgyz citizens” they told me) I had to adapt.
Day 89, 22nd of September 2017, 23°C, clear sky and no wind. At 7 am I was already taking a taxi to Osh Bazaar, from where I took the mashrutka (local minibus) number 265 to Kashka-Suu, the closest village to Ala-Archa National Park, just 40 Km south of Bishkek.
Day 86, 19th of September 2017 (29 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 22°C, clear sky and no wind. Went to the English School to say goodbye one last time and left Karakol on the mashrutka (local minibus) heading to Cholpon-Ata.
Day 83, 16th of September 2017 (26 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 18°C, clear sky and no wind. Left Karakol early in the morning, together with Natassia & Antoine, on mashrutka (local minibus) number 331 to Jyrgalan.
Day 79, 12th of September 2017 (22 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 20°C, cloudy and a light breeze. After an amazing weekend in the mountains (see post) it was time to get back to work.
Day 76, 9th of September 2017 (19 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 18°C, partially cloudy and no wind. Woke up early, put the backpack on and headed to the mountains.
Day 71, 4th of September 2017 (14 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 21°C, clear sky and no wind. Woke up excited and apprehensive at the same time,
Day 66, 30th of August 2017 (9 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 25°C, clear sky and no wind. Left Naryn at 8am with a bag full of candies “for the journey”, as Lika’s mother told me,
Day 64, 28th of August 2017 (7 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 21°C, clear sky and no wind. The day before instead of going back to Bishkek I asked the driver to leave me on the main road and hitchhiked to Naryn in a Toyota Prius.
Day 62, 26th of August 2017 (5 Zul Hijjah, 1438), 13°C, clear sky and no wind. Woke up early to join an expedition to Son Kol lake organised by a friend of Nursultan (my host in Bishkek, see post).
